Thank you!

We always appreciate hearing from our customers. We would like to thank Michelle R. for her recent review!

Forget the rest. This is the ONLY tile place in Chicago. I wish I had known about it sooner. Hits all points from quality to selection to price to get your project done. There is a large parking lot. If it is not in the store they will get it for you FAST. THE BEST customer service anywhere. They even gave me neighborhood taco recommendations and told me when the next Diversey bus was due to arrive. A couple of pieces of material had been omitted from my order and Chris personally delivered them to my door. When I had some excess glue, they cheerfully issued a refund. If you need the tile installed, they will do it. I needed vinyl base trim with pre-made corners. Century Tile had it. I have not found the pre-made corners anywhere else in the city. Seriously, I want to buy another house just so I can get all my tile at Century. It is a pleasure to give them business. Thank you, Century Tile Team!

You are welcome, Michelle!

St. Patrick’s Deviled Eggs

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Holidays

Are you excited for Easter? If you just can’t wait to dye Easter eggs, try this recipe. It allows you to practice those egg-coloring skills and can double as a seasonal appetizer for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, without jumping the gun into Easter. Find out how to make devilishly delicious deviled eggs for St. Patrick’s Day!

What You Will Need:

Apple Cider Vinegar

Green Food Coloring

A Dozen Eggs

1 Cup Mayonnaise

2 Tbsp. Mustard

Bacon

Chives

Salt & Pepper

Paprika

Directions:

Fill a large pot with water and place on the stove. Place eggs in the water, carefully so they don’t crack. Bring the water to a boil, then turn heat down to low and cover the pot. Let the pot sit covered for 15 minutes. Once the eggs are boiled, add cold water to the pot to cool the eggs, so they can be peeled.

After the eggs have cooled, peel them. Next cut them in half down the long axis of the egg. Remove the yolk with a spoon and place the hard yolks in another bowl. Fill a short glass with water, add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 4 drops of green food coloring. You can speed the process by mixing several glasses with the vinegar and food coloring.  Let the eggs sit in the vinegar solution for 3-5 minutes, depending on how dark a shade of green you prefer. If you prefer a brighter, richer green over pastel green, soak the eggs 5 minutes in the dye.

On to making the yolk filling! Mix yolks up with a fork or whisk. They need to be crumbly. Then add mayonnaise and mustard and whisk mixture thoroughly. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cook bacon until it is crispy. Then break it up into crumbles. Cut the chives up. Use the bacon and chives are as toppings.

Spoon the egg mixture into the hardboiled green egg halves.  Top with bacon and then chives. Finally garnish with a small amount of paprika on top. Enjoy your green eggs!

Children love to help with this craft, however, if they should get a bit too involved, use this advice to remove any egg or food coloring that may have fallen to the carpet!

Upgrades for a Tired Living Room

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Area Rugs

If your living room is looking tired, you may not need to completely redecorate. There are changes you can make to make the room look like new. Your room may benefit from one, or a few of these upgrades.

Upgrade the artwork. Art can make or break a room. A room can easily be changed simply by replacing the artwork. If the existing art is just taking up space on the wall, you may need to pick art with a more exciting subject matter. Art should draw the eye in. If your eye simply wanders past your current art work, it may be time to invest in some exciting new pieces.

Buy a new, large rug to go under the seating. The most common mistake people make is buying rugs that are too small, simply for the price factor. Larger rugs provide a more inviting feel and an added element of texture. The rug should extend beyond the seating arrangement instead of stopping right at the legs or before far from the furniture. If you have questions about the correct size of rug for your room, feel free to ask us at Century Tile.

Upgrade the sofa. The sofa tends to be the largest natural focal point in a living room because it is the largest furniture piece in the space. If your sofa is tired, your living room may be as well.

If you are not yet ready to invest in a new sofa, try new accent pillows instead.  The accent pillows can set the tone for the entire room. If your current pillows are worn or have lost their shape, purchase a few in a new accent color or pattern.  You’ll be amazed at the instant transformation!

A coffee table is another important piece in the living room space. This piece should demand attention itself, as well as the items that are placed on it. If your coffee table is just to serve the purpose of housing remotes and other mundane items, first try clearing it off and selecting a few display pieces to as a centerpiece.

If your new centerpiece is just not enough, it may be time to upgrade your coffee table. Select an exciting coffee table that feels beautiful in the space. This piece of furniture has the ability to dress up a sofa and the room itself!
