Stone Creates Rich Feel in Bathroom

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Kitchen and Bath

This Naples hotel spa captures the best of the old and modern worlds with its beautiful stone work combined with a modern soaking pool and a comfy chaise in the corner. Can you recreate this mood in your own home? Let’s see what we can do.

To start, look at a tumbled light-toned stone such as a travertine. The soft creams, grays and beiges gain a connection with an almost white grout to mirror the walls and ceiling in this photo. While you may not be able to produce the almost magical columns moving into arched ceilings, an arch could be added to one wall to provide some curvy lines.

The soft tones of the light in this space come from the deep window wells created by walls several feet thick. Instead of this unreachable option, using glass tile or sheer curtains would reduce any glare and bring in only gentle daylight.

It’s impractical to fit a chaise in most bathrooms, but instead, a wooden bench with a white cushion provides a soft spot to rest without taking up too much room.

The final feature comes from that lovely blue pool. Get a similar feel with a nice deep spa tub to relax in and bring that blue water’s color into the room with towels and accessories.

While most of us may never have a chance to spend time in a pool like this, with a bit of imagination you can turn your bathroom into a place for you to relax and take a break from the day’s stresses in your own spa bathroom.
