Keep these four simple interior design tips in mind when you’re planning out your next redesign. A little bit of guidance can go a long way when it comes to a beautiful room.
Be very careful of current trendy looks. What is here today will likely be gone tomorrow. Simple trendy changes that are easily reversed are not a big deal – if you like a look you should certainly reproduce it. Beware of difficult or permanent changes that will be a nightmare for someone else in 10 years when it is finally time to pull that dark faux wood paneling down.
Play up on your surroundings, but do not let yourself become gaudy. Just because you live by the seashore does not mean that your decor has to be in sea shells. The same thing applies to the countryside or a farm type residence – you can do rustic, or farm decor with very good taste. Pick up on natural colors from your environment for the color scheme of your walls, and use a contrasting or complimentary color for your trim. Good interior decorators will have lots to say on picking the correct wall colors for your home.
Make art an integral part of your design. Sculptures are beautiful, even in the most modern or quaint of decors. You can go with a very large painting of a nice quality and good frame, with a smaller grouping of art to the side. Make sure your frames either match to a certain degree, or compliment each other. The art of good decorating is made with complimentary items with a bold splash thrown in for emphasis. Paintings also look good without frames depending upon your style, such as paintings on stretched canvas. Do not buy artwork to simply to match your current room style, buy artwork that is beautiful and that speaks to you. Many rooms have been built around a prized painting, and they can serve as an excellent anchor for a room.
If room permits try to include a sitting area in the master suite, a place where you can relax and have a glass of wine or a good cup of tea. Keep your favorite books at hand and a few good magazines for the ultimate in design and relaxation.
Truly beautiful interior rooms can be achieved no matter what the available budget. Take your time and give lots of thought to the purpose of your room, your own style and taste, and don’t hesitate to ask others for opinions and insight into your new living space.
