Three Diverse Types of Carpet That Are Trending in 2020

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Carpet

Are you in the market for carpet for a new home, a renovation project, or a recently-flipped house? If so, we have a few new carpet types for you. Now, you must know that not all carpet is created equal. That is why we would like to take this opportunity to share with you some new carpet trends. Let’s take a look!

Recycled Carpet

So far this year, recycled carpet has been all the rage. Today’s buyers are very concerned with their carbon footprint, or if you will, environmentally-friendly products. Manufacturers and retailers alike are bringing what consumers want to the table with recycled carpet. In fact, almost all carpet that is made today is made from recycled materials. One of the top recycled carpet tiles products is made from recycled plastic bottles, which is amazing! Annually, approximately 3.5 million pounds of carpet is thrown out. So currently, some manufacturers are making carpet more recyclable to prevent it from being tossed out every year. The trend of recycled carpet is here to stay and not going away anytime soon!

Cut & Loop Carpet

Actually, cut and loop carpet is exactly what it sounds like. Either the carpet is cut flat at the top, or it is looped in its construction. When cut and loop carpet is combined together, it creates a stylish pattern and texture. When you take your hand and rub it across the carpet, you can feel the different textures. Right now, design patterns are trendy in not only fabrics but also in carpet. These cut and loop carpets have been popular for the last 5 and 6 six years. However, we do not anticipate this style being used to carpet an entire home, only an area where you want to make more of a statement.

Twist or Frieze Carpet

Twist carpet is manufactured where each piece of carpet is twisted to make it look curly or wavy. Twist carpet is transpired from the 1970’s shag carpet. Today’s twist or frieze carpet is more trendy than a traditional carpet, and it is believed that will stay around for a long time.

We hope you have learned about a few newer carpet trends on the market. If you would like to see some of them in person, please visit us at Century Tile for more information.
