Spray the muffin cups with the nonstick spray. Using a spoon, add the batter to each muffin cup. Fill up each cup about ¾ of the way.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. After twenty minutes, use a tooth pick to check to see if the muffins are done. If the toothpick comes out a little wet, bake for five more minutes.

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Design and Decorating

Reds, yellows, oranges as well as various combinations of these colors are considered “warm” colors. Yes, the stronger a color is, its intensity increases creating a warming effect. Such a group of colors can influence a range of emotions such as feelings of happiness and excitement. How can you incorporate warm colors into your decorating scheme?

Warm colors can work well together because they are located near each other on the color wheel. When such colors are added to the decor of a room it adds spice or personality to otherwise bland space. Using a warm color in combination with a neutral color can create a balance within a room. While warm colors are stimulating, such colors should be used sparingly. You don’t have to implement such colors in every room in the house. Instead, you can opt to use a warm color as an accent against a neutral colored wall. Using warm color as accessories can add spice to any room without going overboard with the color scheme.

Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of using warm colors is that it can make a room appear cozier as the color advances. When using such colors, it can make a space more intimate and warmer. Colors such as red and orange can make a space appear smaller and more inviting. Warm colors are great for rooms that are sparsely furnished because it can make the room feel intimate even though it’s lacking.

Warm colors can be energizing therefore you should avoid using a bold warm color as a dominant color in specific rooms. In areas where you desire to avoid stimulation such as in the bedroom and dining area; you should opt not to use warm colors as an accent.

Are you ready to begin adding some warm hues to your home? Start by adding the warmth sparingly so you can determine what works for your home’s decor and what doesn’t. If you decide to use red tones offset, it with a black accent. Tan and off white make great accent colors for orange hues. When decorating with warm colors remember that less is more.

Bold Powder Rooms

The powder room pictured here doesn’t shy away from either strong color or pattern. It creates a strong design that leaves an impression. The combination of the bold patterned wallpaper and the detailed tiles on the floor makes a statement! Powder rooms are the perfect place to be bold because of their small size and infrequent use. A room that you spend the majority of time in, such as a family room or kitchen, might feel overwhelming in such a strong pattern and color scheme.

In a powder room you can be playful with pattern and colors on the walls, counter and even the floor. Because of the small footprint, materials to decorate the room will not break the bank. Marble or expensive tile for the floor or counter will also be reasonable compared to doing a large master bathroom or kitchen. Think of powder rooms as little jewel boxes when you approach decorating them.

In this powder room, the design is very cohesive. The color palette is carried from the wallpaper onto the counter and accented with the framed mirror. Choosing an element like wallpaper as the basis of a room design is a good place to start. Other design inspiration can come from fabric or artwork for the room.
