Fun Ornament Crafts Your Kids Will Love

Written by creatingyourspace on . Posted in Christmas

Creating ornaments is an activity that kids love to take part in. They really enjoy feeling involved with decorating the house and tree for Christmas. Ornaments can be easy to make and look great too! Find out how to make fun and easy, craft ornaments that will personalize your family’s Christmas tree.

Icicles can be made with metallic pipe cleaners and beads. Silver or blue metallic pipe cleaners work best. The color of the pipe cleaner is important for the ornament to look like a sparkling icicle.

You can use whatever type of beads you like, as long as they have a hole big enough to allow the pipe cleaner through. Let your kids select the beads they want to use and slide them onto the pipe cleaner. Make sure they leave some space between the beads, to ensure that the pipe cleaner can be malleable. Once the beads have been applied, wrap the pipe cleaner around a pencil. Then remove and slightly pull either end to stretch the icicle out. This will create a spiral icicle ornament that will shine and sparkle once it is hung on the Christmas tree.

The string lights will make the metallic pipe cleaner sparkle! You can simply curl the top of the icicle to hook over the tree branch. No hooks required! Your kids will love hanging their icicle ornaments just as much as they liked making them!

Ribbon tree ornaments are super easy. First let your child select a small straight stick that they would like as the trunk of the tree. Next you will need various types of ribbon. Let your kids decide which ribbon they want to use. . Cut the ribbons for your children. Next allow your child to tie the ribbon onto the branch. Make sure they tie it into a simple knot. If your child does not know how to tie a knot yet, help them with this part. This activity is a great way to learn and experiment with patterns. Once they have applied all the ribbon to the branch, trim the ribbon down and cut at an angle so the ribbon will be tapered from shorter to longer, creating a tree shape!
